In China's transformer industry, Jinshanmen Technology Co., Ltd. has long taken "providing high-quality power transmission and distribution equipment and services" as its core goal. Beyond strictly controlling quality in R&D and production, the company also places great emphasis on helping users install and use equipment more conveniently and safely. Not long ago, an equipment issue caused by a customer's improper installation operations made Jinshanmen Technology recognize the need to optimize its guidance services - by upgrading product manuals and adding special operational guidelines for pressure relief valves, the company aims to help users avoid operational mistakes through more detailed reminders and ensure the stable operation of equipment.
Behind a Customer Complaint: Fault Caused by Operational Oversight, with Clear Responsibility Boundaries
In May 2025, Jinshanmen Technology received feedback from a customer regarding anS11-500KVA/33/0.4KVoil-immersed transformer, which was manufactured and delivered in November 2023. The customer reported oil leakage from the transformer and failure to energize the high-voltage side. It is worth noting that the equipment was already out of its warranty period, but the technical team still followed up promptly, conducting a thorough investigation based on on-site photos and usage records provided by the customer.

From the photos, it could be seen that the corrugated fins of the transformer not only had cracks and oil leakage but also showed obvious signs of expansion. Eventually, the lack of oil led to a high-voltage short circuit, rendering the equipment inoperable. Tracing this clue further, the root cause was quickly identified - the customer's installation team failed to remove the shipping fixing screws on the pressure relief valve after securing the transformer in place. These screws were specially installed at the factory to prevent the valve body from shifting or being damaged due to vibration during transportation; they are essentially "temporary fixing parts," but the customer forgot to remove them.
During the operation of the equipment, the internal temperature changes cause pressure buildup, which should normally be released through the pressure relief valve. However, the unremoved screws blocked the pressure relief channel. As pressure accumulated, it caused the corrugated fins to expand and crack, ultimately leading to a series of faults. After technical verification, it was confirmed that the fault was entirely caused by improper installation operations, having no connection to product quality. Additionally, since the equipment was out of warranty, Jinshanmen Technology was not liable for after-sales services. Nevertheless, this incident served as a reminder for the company: sometimes users do not make mistakes intentionally; they may simply lack knowledge of operational details, so more clear guidance is needed to help them avoid risks.
Proactively Upgrading Services: Adding "Key Reminders" to Manuals to Clarify Operational Standards
To prevent similar issues from recurring, Jinshanmen Technology promptly began optimizing its product manuals, adding a dedicated section of "special precautions" specifically for the shipping fixing screws of pressure relief valves. Instead of simply listing clauses, the company used more understandable language to clearly explain "the necessity of removal, how to remove, and when to remove," ensuring that installation teams can understand and master the procedures at a glance.
For example, a prominent warning was added in the most visible part of the manual: "During factory shipment, 2-4 shipping fixing screws are installed on the pressure relief valve. These screws are only used to protect the valve body from damage during transportation. They must be removed before the equipment is put into operation! Failure to remove them will directly cause equipment damage, and such cases are not covered by the warranty." This single sentence clarifies the consequences, urging users to take this step seriously.

Regarding the timing of screw removal, a specific "window period" was emphasized: the screws must be removed after the transformer is secured in place but before wiring and energization. It is too late to remove them after wiring is completed, before commissioning, or during equipment operation - by then, pressure may have already built up inside the transformer. The screws will block pressure relief, easily leading to problems like corrugated fin cracking and oil leakage, just as seen in the previous incident.
Considering that pressure relief valves of different models may have screws in different positions and of different types, "component identification diagrams" were added to the manuals. These diagrams clearly mark the location and quantity of screws, as well as the tools needed for removal. Even the disassembly steps for two types of screws - "snap-on" and "threaded" - are explained separately. This allows installation personnel to operate by referring to the diagrams, avoiding missed removals due to incorrect component identification.

Finally, an additional "double-check" step was added - a mandatory review before energization. The on-site installation supervisor and safety officer are required to jointly review against the "component identification diagram" to confirm two things: whether all screws have been completely removed, and whether the valve disc of the pressure relief valve can move normally. Only after confirmation can subsequent wiring and energization proceed. An extra check reduces the risk significantly.
Focusing on User Safety: Jinshanmen Technology Continuously Improves Services
For a long time, Jinshanmen Technology has focused on the R&D and production of power transmission and distribution equipment below 35KV. Its products serve various fields, including power systems, railways, mining, and shipping, and have even been exported to many countries and regions around the world, with a total transformer capacity supply of millions of KVA. The optimization of manuals this time is not only a practice of the company's corporate principles of "Dedication, Integrity, Cooperation, and Innovation" but also a reflection of its commitment to "putting user needs first," resolving practical operational pain points for users through service upgrades.
